Ellie has been a fighter since before she was even born. She and her twin sister, Cece, were born prematurely and stayed in the NICU for 4 weeks. She never let her circumstances hold her back and she easily met and surpassed each developmental milestone as she grew. In December 2022, when Ellie was 2.5 years old, she was diagnosed with B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Two months in, she hasn’t let cancer hold her back, either. She loves to dance and especially loves watching Talking Heads’ live performances and trying to copy David Byrne’s crazy dances. She loves to take long walks, especially in nature and always stops to literally smell the [flowers]. She is constantly learning new things and soaks up the world around her. She always asks her medical team what they are doing, and says she wants to be a nurse when she grows up.
As of 2/8, she is currently in remission, but she is not yet *cured* and will still be receiving treatment for the next 1-2 years. This will include numerous trips between the Bay Area and Central Valley, clinic visits, chemo treatment and other medications, probable transfusions, and hospital stays.
